‘5’-EAGLE ROCK AND HAWTHORNE LINE (1932-1955)

 

Formed from the ‘E’-Eagle Rock and Hawthorne line, with no other change.  The name change went into effect March 20, 1932.

 

ROUTE:  From Townsend Avenue and Colorado Boulevard, west on Colorado to Eagle Rock Boulevard, south on Eagle Rock to Cypress Avenue.  Southeast on Cypress to Pepper Street, south from Pepper on right-of-way to Avenue 28.  East on Avenue 28 to N. Figueroa Street, south on Figueroa and Figueroa Place to San Fernando Road.  East on San Fernando to Pasadena Avenue, southwest on Pasadena, North Broadway, Broadway Place and S. Main Street to Jefferson Avenue.  West on Jefferson to Grand Avenue, south on Grand to Santa Barbara (King) Avenue, west on Santa Barbara to Leimert Boulevard.  Southwest on Leimert to Crenshaw Boulevard, south on Crenshaw to Redondo Boulevard, southwest on Redondo to Market Street, south on Market, La Brea Avenue and Hawthorne Boulevard to Broadway in Hawthorne.

 

MARCH 18, 1948:  Portion on Colorado Boulevard (in Eagle Rock) from Townsend Street west to Eagle Rock Boulevard abandoned.

 

MAY 2, 1955:  Balance of line abandoned from Eagle Rock Boulevard and Colorado to Hawthorne and Broadway in the City of Hawthorne.
